Description
Copper Nickel 90/10 Pipe is a 90% copper alloy that contains 10% nickel in its composition. There are other elements in trace quantities. These additions make the metal stronger. The corrosion resistance of the copper is improved with strength by the addition of nickel. The Cuni 90/10 Seamless Pipes are cold drawn and it could be strengthened by cold working after production. Copper has been used as a water piping material for very long time now. Although there are substitute materials available today, the 90/10 Copper Nickel Pipes are seen widely used in different applications. Cupro Nickel 90 10 Pipes are a special grade that is used in the pipe systems of ships. This enables that pipes not to be clogged with marine organisms and avoids corrosion as well. These are also used in offshore oil platforms.
There are different standards and schedules of copper nickel material used in pipes such as B466 C70600 Schedule 40 Copper Nickel 90/10 Pipe. The schedules account for the wall thickness of different diameters. This in turn corresponds to the maximum pressure a pipe can hold with. The ASTM B467 Copper Nickel 90/10 Welded Pipes are stronger than the seamless pipes and is used with welding. It is easy to weld with these pipes without creating precipitation. Filler materials are used when necessary to avoid weak connections. The Schedule 80 Copper Nickel 90/10 Pipe has a high pressure containment capacity. There are different sizes such as the ASTM B466 C70600 Cuni 4 inch Pipe and shapes such as the ASME SB 466 UNS C70600 Cu Ni Rectangle Pipes. The wall thickness can be referred in DIN numbers as in the DIN 86019 Copper Nickel UNS C70600 Pipes. There are special cases like the beveled DIN 2.0872 Copper Nickel 90/10 Beveled End Pipes which are used in special requirements in the applications.
